Tech team requires expensive outside pen test service to tell them servers require patches

In the yearly cycle of tech accountability, the tech team at Miles Briggs Machines required a team of expensive outside penetration testers to tell them that their servers required patches. This coming as an output of the highly sophisticated scanning tools being deployed to the environment and run for a few days. The scanning company representative says, “yeah… many people aren’t aware that their environments need to be patched. We deploy our scanning tool to customer environments which runs a test, then providing information on a variety of gaps, most importantly patching”.

The contact at Miles Briggs Machines responded, “these guys are really miracle workers. Without this sort of information we’d be dead in the water and have no idea what to do with our environment. I mean, how should I know that a server from 2008 is behind the times? It’s pretty important we have this analysis done.”
